3D Printed Astronaut Defies Gravity – 3D Printing Time Lapse On Ender 3 Pro

This 3D printed NASA Apollo Astronaut is perfect for a time lapse on any 3D printer. The fact that the astronaut 3D prints completely upside down is icing on the cake. This model from Charlie1982 on Thingiverse(Link at bottom of the description) prevents all the problems associated with adding 3D supports in the 3D printer’s slicing program and then ingeniously flips the astronaut over making for an exciting 3D print to watch as it slowly emerges from the printer.

The most important thing to pay attention to with this 3D printed astronaut is those first few layers. If the built in 3D printing supports don’t seem to be holding early in the print, they certainly won’t when the weight of the print is added as the 3D printer nears completion.

How Time Lapse 3D Prints Work
After each .2 MM layer( That is barely thicker than a sheet of paper!) the 3D printer pauses, moves the extruder to the rear of the printer, takes a photo and then continues the print giving the illusion of the print appearing from thin air.
