100% 3D Printed Halloween Tree – PLA Filament Drips In Mid-Air – Ultimate Halloween 3D Print

I have to say that creating 3D print Halloween time lapses is one of my favorite 3D printing activities of the year but I was looking for something a bit unusual to print. The Furry Christmas Tree by 3DCentralVA is an amazing time lapse, but its October! So the Halloween Tree was born! This 3D print uses a technique called Drooloops to drip the PLA filament in mid-air forming little loops that look so much like a real Christmas er… Halloween Tree. (Thingiverse Link At The Bottom)

How I Made It
I used the original 3D tree model from Thingiverse and remixed it with Okapee’s 3D printed pumpkin with no support needed to create this Halloween Monstrosity. I will post the remix to Thingiverse later this weekend, otherwise just get out your Orange PLA filament and start printing!

3D Printing Suggestions
A couple tips for this design to be successful. In Cura make sure to set your layers to .3mm and no more than 10% infill. To make the dripping filament really work its wonders print this at around 40mm/s and your tree will be a success(Even if its green).

How Time Lapse 3D Prints Work
After each .2 MM layer( That is barely thicker than a sheet of paper!) the 3D printer pauses, moves the extruder to the rear of the printer, takes a photo and then continues the print giving the illusion of the print appearing from thin air.
